PathAnimator

Photo to line drawing animation

Upload a photo and PathAnimator traces its outlines into clean lines, then spinning circles draw them. Crop to the subject and preview the lines before you draw. Faces, pets and bold objects work best.

Your photo's line drawing appears here

Upload a photo: a face, a pet, an object. Its outlines become lines drawn by circles.

How it works

  1. 1Upload a photo below. It's processed in your browser and isn't uploaded.
  2. 2Drag on the preview to crop to the subject, and set the detail until the lines look right.
  3. 3Choose separate lines or one continuous line, press Draw this photo, then export or open it in the editor.

Tips

  • Crop tightly around the face, pet or object: most stray lines come from the background.
  • Photos with strong contrast and a plain background give the cleanest lines.
  • Separate lines look cleanest. One continuous line adds short connecting strokes: the classic one-line drawing look.
  • A Paper & Ink or Chalkboard theme makes the result look hand-drawn.

Questions

How does a photo become a line drawing?
PathAnimator boosts the photo's contrast, finds edges where brightness changes sharply, keeps strong edges plus the fainter ones connected to them, and follows each edge into a smooth line. A Fourier transform then turns every line into circles that redraw it.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is read and processed entirely in your browser. Only the finished lines, not the photo, go into a share link if you choose to create one.
